“Soft” endoscopes are proposed as an alternative to their traditional counterparts because of their flexibility and size, which allows access to certain vital areas that otherwise cannot be reached.

The research involved the integration of a strain and pressure sensor into the test endoscope.

The encouraging results show that the model developed in the research could form the basis of a control system for flexible endoscopes.

This work, realised by Ibrahima Sow,  was built on the work of Gilles Decroly who supervised it.
