Prof. Guido Costamagna

Guido Costamagna is a Full Professor of Surgery, Director of the University Department of Translational Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University in Rome.
He is also Scientific Director of the European Endoscopy Training Center, a structure dedicated to teaching Digestive Endoscopy techniques, which he founded in 2002.
At the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli – IRCCS he holds the position of Director of the Digestive Endoscopy Unit and President of the Clinical Didactic and Scientific Consulting Committee.
He held the Chair of Excellence in Digestive Endoscopy at the Institute of Higher Studies (IHU) of the University of Strasbourg.
He was President of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
After the specialist training in General Surgery and Gastroenterology he has always dedicated himself to the application and development of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of digestive endoscopy, in particular in the bilio-pancreatic field and in the pathology of the upper digestive tract, performing for the first time in Italy twenty innovative techniques.
He has been a visiting Professor in numerous prestigious academic institutions and has lectured and performed live speeches in more than 50 countries around the world, some of which have given him the title of Honorary Member of the local scientific society.
He is the author of more than 600 publications, of which more than 500 in Pub-Med with an h-index of 76.
